Money that doesn't cost you the company.
Tax credits, grants, wage subsidies, cost-shared projects: capital you never trade ownership for. For an R&D-heavy Canadian company it's usually the largest, cheapest money available. And the most under-claimed.
Our model on SR&ED is simple: no fee unless the claim succeeds. We get paid when you get paid.
01 R&D · 02 Commercialization · 03 Scale-upNon-dilutive capital is available at every camp. Equity is always an option too. What changes is how much of it you have to sell.
Check the route before you rope up.
Three tools we built and use ourselves. All free, all honest. They'll tell you if a claim isn't worth pursuing, too.
SR&ED Readiness Check
Why it exists: most weak claims could have been caught, or fixed, before anyone wrote a word for CRA. This tells you whether your project record holds up while there's still time to strengthen it.
- 01Four steps, about ten minutes: project, technical case, evidence, result
- 02AI review against the questions CRA effectively asks
- 03You leave with a route recommendation and copy-ready draft language
SR&ED Calculator
What it answers: what a claim could be worth, before you decide it's worth anyone's time. Your team, province, and structure in, a live federal and provincial range out.
- 01Under a minute, no email required. Updates as you type
- 02Person-by-person R&D time, with the rate table and sources published
- 03Honest about what it can’t know: a planning range, not tax advice
Funding Navigator
What it answers: which of 40 Atlantic programs are on your route right now, and what unlocks the ones just out of reach.
- 01Six questions light up the mountain. Answers never leave your browser
- 02Matched programs glow on your route; near-misses show what unlocks them
- 03Shareable profile link, per-province SR&ED stacking notes included
The routes we run.
These are routes we run, not a list scraped from a government site. Most companies qualify for more than one, and the routes stack.
SR&ED.
Refundable R&D tax credits: up to 35% federal for CCPCs plus 15% provincial in NB, NS, and NL. The single largest source of non-dilutive capital for most technology companies, and the most under-claimed.
NRC-IRAP.
Project funding and advisory services for technology innovation, typically covering a substantial share of the salaries behind an R&D project.
ACOA.
Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency programs (Business Development Program, REGI) for growth, productivity, and expansion projects across the region.
NBIF.
The New Brunswick Innovation Foundation: startup capital, research assistantships, and innovation vouchers for NB companies.
CanExport.
Cost-share for developing new markets abroad: international travel, trade shows, marketing collateral, and IP protection in target markets.
Mitacs.
Cost-shared internships and fellowships that put graduate-level research talent inside your company, often stacked alongside SR&ED.
Opportunities NB.
Payroll rebates, term loans, and export support for NB companies adding jobs or capacity. Often the anchor a larger funding stack is built around.
LearnSphere.
Up to 65% of the final stretch of commercializing a product or process, non-repayable. A fast on-ramp before a larger program, and it runs the Export Funding NB stream too.
Innovation Clusters.
Canada’s Global Innovation Clusters (Ocean Supercluster, Scale AI, NGen, Protein Industries) fund collaborative projects at a scale no single grant reaches.
And many more. Our Funding Navigator charts 40 Atlantic and federal programs against your company in six questions.
SR&ED, done properly.
The Scientific Research & Experimental Development program returns a share of what you already spend resolving technical uncertainty: salaries, contractors, materials. For a Canadian-controlled private corporation the federal credit is refundable cash, not just a reduction in tax.
Most claims fail quietly: work that was eligible but never documented, or narratives that don't survive CRA review. Our practice is built against both, and priced so the risk sits with us, not you.
AI inside · Claim documentation runs through the same tooling we sell: drafted at machine speed, verified by the people who sign their name to it.
Scope
We find the eligible work hiding inside your build, usually more of it than teams expect.
Document
AI-assisted evidence gathering and narratives that take hours of your engineers’ time, not days. Nothing files without human verification.
File & defend
Through CRA review to the refund. If the claim doesn’t succeed, our fee is zero.
No-win, no-fee · Paid when you get paid
Anyone can fill in the form.
Grants and contributions are not won on paperwork. They are won on whether the program believes in the project and the team behind it, and that is decided long before anyone reads an application. Positioning our clients for that is most of the job.
Before the application
We talk to the program first. An IRAP ITA wants to back a project they believe in and a team that can deliver it, which is a conversation, not a form. Walking in cold with a finished application is the slowest way to do this.
Framed the way it gets funded
The same project can read as routine engineering or as the technical risk a program exists to underwrite. We know which parts of your work each funder is actually buying, and we put those parts in front.
Timed to the window
Programs have intake cycles, budget years, and quiet periods nobody publishes. Being ready three weeks early is the difference between this fiscal year and the next one.
Not sure which route fits?
Send us what you're building and what you're spending on it. We'll tell you which programs are real options, and which aren't worth your time.
